The purpose of the MTP is to identify the transportation needs of the community over the next 25 years. The purpose of the TIP is to list the transportation improvements scheduled for implementation over the next 4 fiscal years. A project must be included in the MTP and TIP to be eligible for any federal funding.
The MTP and TIP do not cover highway design or transit route decisions. Questions about a proposed highway design or right-of-way acquisition should be made to the TxDOT Tyler District Office at (903) 510-9267. Questions about bus pickups, scheduling, and routes should be made to Tyler Transit at (903) 533-8057.
The Open House is to notify the public of estimated cost updates for two highway projects and two pedestrian projects including:
- the widening of FM 2493 from Loop 323 to FM 2813;
- the widening of SH 31 from Loop 323 to County Road 236;
- UT Tyler pedestrian safety enhancement project; and
- Tyler ISD traffic signal at Loop 323 and Lion Ln.
This will be a come-and-go event. Staff from the MPO will be on hand to answer questions and provide information regarding the amendment.
