Support Library Programs

The Friends of the Tyler Public Library is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Tyler Public Library by providing funds and programs that would not otherwise be possible. Learn more about the Friends and how you can support Library programs!

The Friends have been able to provide a variety of enhancements to the library including:

  • Enhanced children's story time activities & supplies
  • Special speakers & performers
  • 3D printer & supplies
  • Reading programs & prizes
  • Public copiers - includes free scan to USB service
  • Seed library upkeep
  • Programming supplies
  • And so much more!

Library Calendar

National Library Week

National Library Week is April 19-25.

Free all week:

To celebrate this year, we've partnered with the Discovery Science Place. Bring your Tyler library card and obtain free entry to Discovery Science Place for a maximum of four people: 2 adults max (age 13 and up) and 2 children (age 2-12) per family/same household. (Or 1 adult and 3 children per family/same household.) Under age 2 is always free. Only April 19-25!

Please note that DSP is closed on Monday the 20th.

Celebrations during National Library Week include:

Monday, April 20: State of America's Libraries Report released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2019.

Tuesday, April 21: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.

Thursday, April 23: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.
