Support Library Programs

The Friends of the Tyler Public Library is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Tyler Public Library by providing funds and programs that would not otherwise be possible. Learn more about the Friends and how you can support Library programs!

The Friends have been able to provide a variety of enhancements to the library including:

  • Enhanced children's story time activities & supplies
  • Special speakers & performers
  • 3D printer & supplies
  • Reading programs & prizes
  • Public copiers - includes free scan to USB service
  • Seed library upkeep
  • Programming supplies
  • And so much more!

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT NOTICE

The City of Tyler wants to ensure that Tyler Public Library Advisory Board meetings are accessible to persons with disabilities. If any individual needs special assistance or accommodations to attend this board meeting, please contact the Tyler Public Library at (903) 593-7323 in advance so accommodations can be made.

 

AGENDA

 

  1. Call meeting to order.
  2. Conduct a roll call, establish a quorum, and explain rules of decorum.
  3. Discuss and consider minutes from previous board meeting held on February 22, 2023.
  4. Present to Board the Collection Development Policy regarding Sec. VIII. Reconsiderations.

VIII. Request for Reconsideration of Library Materials

“Individuals may request reconsideration of a selection decision of library material . . .”  “Within 30 days of the filing of the written request for reconsideration, the City Librarian will send a written response to complainants notifying them of the library’s Collection Development Committee’s decision regarding their request. The response will also inform complainants that if they desire, the request will be forwarded to the Library Board who will review the request within 90 days and take action on it. . .”

  1. Conduct a public hearing to reconsider the Committee’s decision on Library Materials:
    1. All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson. (February 2023)

      b.   Out of Darkness by Ashley Hope Perez. (April 2023)

       

  2. Adjourn.
